“I know you aren’t perfect. But it’s a person’s imperfections that make them perfect for someone else”.

Some might say, that this is just another fluffy contemporary – and they might be right. But sometimes that is just what you need, and LOLA and the BOY next door is one of those books that leaves you smiling for days.

Lola Nolan is a budding costume designer, and for her, the more outrageous, sparkly, and fun the outfit, the better. And everything is pretty perfect in her life (right down to her hot rocker boyfriend) until the Bell twins, Calliope and Cricket, return to the neighborhood. When Cricket, a gifted inventor, steps out from his twin sister’s shadow and back into Lola’s life, she must finally reconcile a lifetime of feelings for the boy next door. (Amazon).

This is so much more than your standard cute romance. Lola is quite different from the standard YA characters, and she really does stand out. She is far from perfect and kind of quirky, and there a times when you just want to shake her! But you can really relate to her an you can not stop rooting for her and Cricket.

The setting (San Francisco) is, as it also was in Anna an the French Kiss, described so well, that you just want to pack up and go there.

It think that Stephanie Perkins did a very good job of describing the potential in Lola and the horror of having the first love of your live turn your world around.

And lets face it – the book just got better by having Anna and St. Clair in it 🙂  I did not like this book as much as Anna and The French Kiss, but I still feel that Stephanie Perkins managed a great sequel.

So snuggle up in your favorite reading spot – cause you are in for a nice, little treat.

(Don’t get me started on Cricket!)
